With the new Mercedes-AMG E 53 HYBRID 4MATIC+ as a saloon and estate, the performance and sports car brand from Affalterbach is presenting two further plug-in hybrid models. They combine outstanding performance and driving dynamics with a long electric range.<br/>The combination of the 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line engine and the permanently excited E-synchronous machine generates a maximum system output of 430 kW (585 HP) and a maximum system torque of 750 Nm. The performance is correspondingly dynamic: acceleration from 0‑100 km/h takes place in 3.8 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 280 km/h (saloon with optional AMG Driver's Package). Up to 140 km/h are possible purely electrically.<br/>The 120-kW electric motor is integrated into the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission to save space. The high-power density of the hybrid power unit is achieved by the permanently excited internal rotor synchronous technology. The electric motor's maximum torque of 480 Nm is available from the first revolution and ensures high agility even when starting off. The traction battery with 400 volts has a gross capacity of 28.6 kWh and is installed in the rear under the trunk floor. The energy content that can be used every day is smaller at 21.22 kWh, as part of the energy is always reserved for boosting and thus high-performance driving. Nevertheless, the high-voltage battery enables an electric range of up to over 100 kilometres.

Škoda Auto presents the second generation of the Kodiaq, taking sustainability, spaciousness and safety to a new level. The Czech car manufacturer’s SUV flagship has seen its dimensions increased once again and now features the first elements of the Modern Solid design language. The all-new Kodiaq comes with state-of-the-art infotainment systems, including an optional 13-inch screen and a head‑up display. Innovative Škoda Smart Dials with haptic controls and a 10-inch Virtual Cockpit come as standard. The voice control system will from mid-2024 onwards become even more advanced with the integration of the AI-based chatbot ChatGPT. Škoda’s large SUV also adopts a new interior concept based on Design Selections. The five powertrains offer outputs from 110 kW (150 hp) to 150 kW (204 hp) and are always mated to a DSG automatic transmission. The powertrain line-up now also includes a plug in hybrid version with an electric range of more than 100 kilometres and an entry-level mild-hybrid powertrain. The two top engines are combined with all-wheel drive as standard. Also making their debuts are the latest generations of the LED Matrix beam headlights with a significantly higher light output and the Dynamic Chassis Control system (DCC Plus).

Genesis has been turning up the heat on BMW and Mercedes for nearly a decade, and now Hyundai’s luxury brand is showing off a crop of futuristic concept cars at the 2024 New York International Auto Show. Forbes Contributor Scotty Reiss (A Girls Guide to Cars) shows off the X Gran Berlinetta and Neolun, and explains the real reason concept cars are so important for brands.<br/><br/>The Genesis X Berlinetta concept is a piping hot orange colored Korean supercar. Created by Genesis for the Vision Gran Turismo series, this sleek coupe is powered by a hybrid V6 powertrain pumping out a total of 1071 hp and 986 lb-ft of torque. For anyone wanting to drive the X Berlinetta (virtually of course), just access Gran Turismo 7, as the car was added to the game in January.<br/><br/>The fully-electric Neolun (meaning “new moon”) is a big, hyper-luxurious SUV concept with a lavish two-row interior with front seats that swivel backward, but it could easily be a three-row machine if it reaches production.<br/><br/>Inside, the Neolun is full of ambitious features, only some of which would make it to a real-world model. Rotating seats and coach doors have been done before on other vehicles, but the radiant heating in the floor and the complete lack of a B-pillar are ambitious indeed. Toyota's venerable off-roader gets a new redesign, a new hybrid powertrain, and tougher Trailhunter trim.<br/><br/>The last time the Toyota 4Runner came out new, President Obama was new to the Oval Office and the Black Eyed Peas were at the top of the Billboard charts. This was 15 years ago. There's now a new 4Runner – finally – and even though Toyota has rebuilt its iconic off-roader from the ground up, it retains its rugged spirit.<br/><br/>Also based on the new Tacoma, the 2025 4Runner uses the same TNGA-F truck architecture. It ditches the old 4.0-liter V-6 and five-speed automatic in favor of a standard turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 278 horsepower and 378 pound-feet of torque. That's 8 more hp than the current 4Runner and a whopping 100 additional pound-feet.<br/><br/>The optional I-Force Max hybrid version of the same engine produces 326 hp and 465 lb-ft. Both of these powertrains ditch the old five-speed in favor of a new eight-speed automatic transmission. Unfortunately, there is no manual to be found.<br/><br/>The 4Runner will be offered with two-wheel drive, part-time four-wheel drive and full-time four-wheel drive, depending on how you specify it. All 2WD models will feature a limited-slip differential, while 4WD models will feature the same LSD and electronically controlled two-speed transfer case with high- and low-range gearing, as well as Toyota's Active Traction Control (A-Trac).<br/><br/>There's also what Toyota calls the new Stabilizer Bar Disconnect Mechanism for better articulation. This one-button access system allows the 4Runner to flex while keeping its tires on the ground. The 4Runner has a 32-degree approach and 24-degree departure angle.<br/><br/>And the new 4Runner promises to be even more capable. Mud, Dirt and Sand modes and a quieter Crawl Control function join the party in 2025, while new Trailhunter hardware (borrowed from the Tacoma) joins the rest of the lineup. Buyers will be able to choose from nine 4Runner trims: SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Sport Premium, TRD Off Road, TRD Off Road Premium, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro and the aforementioned Trailhunter, the toughest of the bunch.<br/><br/>The 4Runner Trailhunter has 33-inch all-terrain tires that raise the ride height by 2.0 inches in the front and 1.5 inches in the rear. Two-and-a-half-inch Old Man Emu forged shocks with ARB-free reservoirs dot the corners of the suspension. There's also an ARB-designed roof rack, a high-mounted air intake for the I-Force Max powertrain (standard on the Trailhunter), a 20-inch light bar, and steel skid plates.
