_a-wheelchair-accessible-electric-minivan-new-evita-concept-by-callum-and-motability.webp "Callum and Motability have teamed up to design a next-generation electric minibus with wheelchair users in mind<br/><br/>UK-based company Motability Operations and design studio Callum have revealed the eVITA concept, an all-electric minibus designed to support the mobility of wheelchair users.<br/><br/>eVITA was designed and developed by Callum with input from Motability Operations' customer clinics. Designed as a next-generation electric wheelchair accessible vehicle (eWAV) concept, eVITA addresses the most common issues with EV conversions, including limited interior height due to floor-mounted batteries, accessibility and practicality.<br/><br/>The eVITA has a similar footprint to the Citroen Berlingo, measuring 4,520 mm (178 in) long, 1,908 mm (75.1 in) wide and 1,800 mm (70.9 in) high, with a wheelbase of 2,980 mm (117.3 in). The exterior design is quite modern, adopting a short hood, a large greenhouse and very short overhangs.<br/><br/>The highlight of the concept is the split tailgate with integrated low-angle ramp that provides easy access from the rear. This is joined by four more doors on the sides, two traditional and two sliding. When the vehicle is parked, LED puddle lights highlight the area where the ramp will be located at the rear to alert other drivers.<br/><br/>The repackaged battery is placed in a low position behind the first row of seats, ensuring that the floor is completely level so that the wheelchair can move freely. Additionally, the hatchback-style ride height of 160 mm (6.3 inches) and lower seating position means the wheelchair user sits at a similar height to other passengers.<br/><br/>The 50 kWh battery offers an estimated range of approximately 200 miles (322 km) and can supplement energy from dual charging ports, one at the rear and the other at the front. Another engineering focus was the highly damped rear suspension, which offers a supple ride and predictable handling with minimal body roll thanks to its low center of gravity. ![Almost nine in 10 Americans believe that karma is real.<br/><br/>Thatâs according to a survey of 2,000 U.S. adults which revealed that 84% buy into the idea that what goes around comes around. Perhaps inspired by that notion, another 84% say they will go out of their way to âpay it forwardâ whenever possible. <br/><br/>Results also revealed, however, that bad karma has made its rounds and Americans attribute bad relationships (34%), losing something (27%) and arguments with others (27%) to it.<br/><br/>Whatever the reason, whether it's to get their cosmic energy on track or general human nature, Americans report they are paying it forward in all kinds of ways. The survey showed that âpaying it forwardâ most often includes treating their loved ones to something special (50%), giving generous tips (48%) and helping out a neighbor, such as carrying their groceries or helping them shovel snow (46%).<br/><br/>It also includes donating money to organizations or charities (40%), volunteering their time to help out friends and family (38%) and supporting small or locally owned businesses (35%).<br/><br/>Results showed that the average American engages in five generous acts per week, totaling 260 random acts of kindness each year.<br/><br/>Beyond the mysterious karma-related benefits, these acts of paying it forward have real effects on more than those in the receiving end â Americans feel better about themselves (49%), their life overall (37%) and feel more confident (22%) when theyâre able to do so.<br/><br/>Conducted by OnePoll on behalf of banking app Chime, the survey also found that the top three ways Americans define âgenerosityâ include âgoing out of your way to help someone elseâ (68%), âgiving your timeâ (54%) and âpaying it forwardâ (40%).<br/><br/>When asked the biggest generous acts theyâve done for someone else, respondents outlined scenarios like, â[I] opened my home for friend to move in during a health crisis,â âI overheard a waitress discussing some unexpected bills she was worried about covering so left her a $200 tip,â or even âI went to Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina to work on restoring houses.â<br/><br/>With that, almost three-quarters (72%) of Americans consider themselves to be generous, despite less than half (43%) currently feeling financially secure. <br/><br/>Respondents feel the rest of the United States has some work to do and does not match their own personal approach to generosity, with 42% saying the country is not generous.<br/><br/>âThese survey results highlight the generous spirit in our country, regardless of what they think about the world around them or their current financial situation. Despite only 43% feeling financially secure, results found that almost two-thirds (65%) are likely to âkeep the chain goingâ and pay for the food of the person behind them in a drive-thru, if someone else paid for theirs,â said Sara El-Amine, Vice President of Community at Chime. âWeâre encouraged to see that the âpay it forwardâ spirit is alive and well in this country, despite some of the current economic challenges everyday people are facing.â<br/><br/>Americans are most likely to pay it forward whenever the mood strikes (43%).
