On Monday, Donald Trump’s lawyers revealed in a legal filing that Trump had failed to secure the $464 million appeals bond he needs to avoid paying the half-billion-dollar penalty as he appeals the New York civil fraud judgment against him. Securing the bond was a “practical impossibility,” they wrote, adding that about 30 different bond companies turned down the former commander-in-chief's request, in part because very few will consider “a bond of anything approaching that magnitude” and the rest will not accept “hard assets such as real estate as collateral.”

Trump is now asking the five-judge appeals court panel to pause enforcement of the civil judgment or to lower the bond amount to $100 million while the appeals court hears his case.

Read the full story on Forbes: https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnhyatt/2024/03/21/why-seizing-trumps-assets-wont-be-quick-or-easy/?sh=70b476f3639c

Subscribe to FORBES: https://www.youtube.com/user/Forbes?sub_confirmation=1

Fuel your success with Forbes. Hara produces some 100 million cones a month—or more than 1.2 billion a year—across 14 factories in and around Delhi, India. The cones are then sent to the United States and Europe and sold to thousands of smoke shops, convenience stores, dispensary chains and cannabis brands. Hara’s cannabis customers fill the cones with ground-up weed, turning the tubes of rolling paper into joints.

Chicago-based cannabis cultivator and retailer Verano Holdings uses Hara’s cones to make their joint brand Swift Lifts, as does Massachusetts-based Curaleaf for its in-house doobies and brands like Grassroots and BNoble. Even the country’s largest independent joint companies, from Jeeter to Stiiizy, are Hara customers. And the biggest rolling paper manufacturer in the world, Republic Brands, which owns OCB, E-Z Wider and Zig-Zag, buys its cones from Hara. All of this translates into a profitable company with real revenue—roughly $75 million a year, Forbes estimates. The entire cone industry, which is largely based in Malaysia, Indonesia and India, produces approximately 350 million cones a month, meaning Hara controls about 30% of the market in terms of volume.

Read the full story on Forbes: https://www.forbes.com/sites/willyakowicz/2023/12/24/king-of-cones-bryan-gerber-hara-supply-cannabis-preroll/?sh=5c8322026531

Subscribe to FORBES: https://www.youtube.com/user/Forbes?sub_confirmation=1

Fuel your success with Forbes. We celebrated International Women's Day last March 8 with a bunch of strong powerful women from Merrell Philippines at Masungi Georeserve. Started the day hiking the trails and nurturing young trees, followed by a delicious minalot and biko for lunch, a quick siesta in their ropeways and floating huts, and a yoga and sound healing session in one of their low-impact structures.

A growing number of companies have been putting return-to-work mandates into action—often forcing employees who relocated during the pandemic to move back near a company hub or leave their jobs entirely. But Tendo, a healthcare startup founded by two siblings in 2020, has taken a different approach: it’s bringing the office to employees.

Although Tendo remains a remote-first workplace, the tale is illustrative of the founders’ approach to collaboration. “Dan and I have created a culture of openness; we discuss everything with the employees, and tell them almost nothing is off limits,” says Jen. “Everybody owns stock in the company, so everybody is an owner of Tendo.” The Goldsmiths, adds Dan, ascribe to the philosophy that the best and most important things happen because of teams, not because of individuals. (Indeed, every one of the company’s almost 150 employees is listed—and pictured—on the website.) And it’s an ethos that helped Tendo earn the No. 20 spot on our ranking of America’s Best Startup Employers 2024.

To create the list of America’s Best Startup Employers 2024, Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to identify 3,000 privately-held companies headquartered in the U.S. that employ more than 50 people and were founded between 2014 and 2021. (Each startup must also have been started from scratch, as opposed to being a spinoff of a larger corporation.) Companies were then evaluated on three primary criteria: company reputation, employee satisfaction and growth.

To assess employer reputation, Statista reviewed articles, blogs and social media posts about each employer, searching for such phrases as “corporate culture” and “employee engagement.” Text analysis was used to categorize those phrases as positive, negative or neutral. Statista evaluated employee satisfaction through online reviews, employee retention rates, and company policies relating to topics such as diversity and inclusion, parental leave, and workplace flexibility. Growth was assessed by examining the organizations’ website traffic, job openings, and head counts over a two-year period.

Ultimately, millions of data points were used to determine the company scores, and the 500 startups with the highest scores made our final ranking of America’s Best Startup Employers 2024.

Read the full story on Forbes: https://www.forbes.com/lists/americas-best-startup-employers/?sh=5305958e2ad7

Subscribe to FORBES: https://www.youtube.com/user/Forbes?sub_confirmation=1

Fuel your success with Forbes.
