In the second-most populated metropolis in Switzerland, this chalet-style house dating to the early 1900s offers a quiet refuge from the commotion of city life. Within the Conches residential neighborhood on the outskirts of Geneva, the nearly 2.5-acre forested property is located just five minutes from the city center. This 1910 chalet was built in the traditional style by the Spring Frères company for the original owner, who was inspired by the Swiss National Exhibitions.

The home, officially recognized by the city for its national significance, underwent a renovation about a decade ago with the addition of a contemporary extension and subterranean garage. The historical section of the house, kitchen ceiling beams and staircase are preserved, while everything else is renovated and new. The four levels contain more than 7,500 square feet of living space, and feature breathtaking views of Mont Salève.

Read the full story:
https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbes-global-properties/2024/02/15/historic-chalet-in-geneva-is-a-hushed-retreat-for-modern-living/

Subscribe to FORBES: https://www.youtube.com/user/Forbes?sub_confirmation=1

Fuel your success with Forbes. Walking to the first interview for this project, I noticed a young boy sitting on a wall a few roads down from my north London flat. He had his head in his hands and his body shook gently, quiet sobs erupting as his feet dangled above the ground. Opposite him lay a sea of flowers, some wilting, others fresh, weather-worn cards, their rain-defeated ink fading into illegibility and candles laid out to form the initials ‘JH’. When I came back home five hours later, he was still there. It’s a memorial Londoners have walked past countless times since it appeared in early January, at the site where 24-year-old Jonah Ho-Shue was stabbed to death. He was the first person to be killed on London’s streets this year.Around the capital, it is not uncommon to see shrines like this — tributes to lives cut tragically short. In many ways, knife crime is a hyper-visible problem in London. It is a fear which can sometimes lie dormant, and then be lit ablaze when a particularly senseless tragedy hits the headlines, such as the killing of 15-year-old schoolgirl Elianne Andam, or 16-year-old Harry Pitman at the end of last year.Until 2016, youth violence in the capital was widely understood to be falling — down from a peak in 2009. Then the numbers started climbing again. The 2020 lockdown seemed to provide some respite, as rates of stabbings decreased for the first time in half a decade, but knife crime in London has risen each year since the pandemic, with a 22 per cent increase in Met Police recorded offences involving a knife or sharp instrument in the last year (up to September 2023).

A JetBlue flight bound for Boston aborted takeoff at Reagan National Airport in DC after a Southwest plane encroached on the runway. Air traffic control audio reveals controllers yelling at pilots to stop as the JetBlue plane was taking off, and Southwest was cleared to cross the same runway. Radar data suggests the planes came within 400 feet of each other, about the length of three airplanes. The FAA is investigating the incident, which they say involved planes nearly colliding. Both airlines are cooperating with the investigation into the Reagan National incident.

An MMA star has been handed a lifetime ban from the Hard Fighting Championship after kicking a ring girl before his about over the weekend.

Iranian fighter Ali Heibati faced Arkady Osipyan at the Hardcore MMA tournament in Moscow on Friday night.

Before the fight had even underway, Heibati bizarrely stepped forward and kicked a ring girl in the derriere as she walked past holding up a card signaling that the opening round was about to start.

The woman turned around and was taken aback by Heibati's behavior, approaching him to voice her disapproval before the referee stepped in to keep them apart and appeared to warn Heibati about his conduct.

The fight was allowed to start moments later, but it was a short contest as Osipyan secured victory by technical knockout in the first round.

His win was confirmed by the referee waving off the fight with just over 30 seconds left in the round as he determined Heibati was in no position to defend himself.

As the referee walked Osipyan back to his corner, Heibati rose to his feet and started attacking his opponent, landing multiple cheap shots while his back was turned.

He was quickly pulled away and several people got into the cage to separate the two men while they awaited the official verdict.

The drama wasn't over there, as the two fighters took the microphone inside the cage afterward.

Heibati seemed annoyed by something that was said to him and aimed another kick, this time at head height toward a commentator, before exchanging angry words with the man.

Further footage has emerged of Heibati then getting attacked by members of the crowd following his bout as he was pushed over some chairs and took several blows to the head.

Following his shameful actions, Heibati took to social media to apologize to the ring girl named Maria.

'Hello everyone. This is for Maria. I didn't act right with her. The reason was that before the MMA fight, there were a lot of fistfights. I stayed there in the cage and I just wanted to go out and fight,' he said.

'I was tense and, as most understand, emotions flourish in the fight, so before the fight, I acted badly towards María.

'I want to publicly apologize to her. I am a married man, so I respect the female gender. She was doing her job and I, after the fight, didn't admit my guilt either, because they also hit me on the head. Tell María that I am sorry.'

Despite his apology, Heibati has still been hit with a lifetime ban from HFC.

He is not the first MMA star to lose his job after outrageous behavior inside the cage Brazilian youngster Igor Severino was cut from the UFC last month for biting his opponent on his debut with the organization.

Severino took a chunk out of his fellow Brazilian Andre Lima's arm and was disqualified before losing his job, and he subsequently revealed that he received death threats following his behavior.
