_carrera-exclusive-six-cylinder-911-carrera-s39s-sportiest-chassis-new-porsche-911-carrera-t-2024.webp "It represents Porsche returning to sprinkle new intrigue into the more affordable end of the 911 range, between the launch of the quarter-million-pound special edition and the next.<br/><br/>Here the T stands for Touring, but '911 Lightweight' would perhaps be a better descriptor for this car, as simplicity is what saves weight and appeals to the driver.<br/><br/>Sitting between the standard Carrera and the well-established Carrera S, the T risked becoming a somewhat half-hearted, middling model with no clear raison d'être. However, Porsche has given the vehicle some special equipment features and an uncompromising character definition.<br/><br/>DESIGN AND STYLE<br/>Porsche 911 Carrera T is easiest to describe as the sportiest chassis of the 911 Carrera S, with its less powerful, 380 hp Carrera-specific six-cylinder at the rear. But while broadly lifelike, this omits many of the finer details that set this car apart.<br/><br/>Porsche adds the 10mm lowered PASM Sport adaptive damping suspension to the entry-level 911 Carrera, which is usually only available as an option from the Carrera S trim level upwards. Also added as standard are Carrera S 20/21-inch alloys, active sports exhaust, PTV mechanical locking rear differential and Porsche's Sport Chrono Package (with dynamic engine mounts). You can optionally add four-wheel steering, but PDCC active anti-roll bars are not offered.<br/><br/>Porsche uses the seven-speed manual transmission as standard, which it added to the 911 Carrera S shortly after the launch of the '992' generation car. This makes the Carrera T the only 911 yet available to combine Porsche's 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine with a three-pedal transmission.<br/><br/>Carrera T has Sport-Tex fabric upholstered front seats as standard instead of Carrera's leather seats, but its default equipment does not include '+2' rear seats. It has lightweight glass, a lightweight battery, and is stripped of most of the 992's soundproofing insulation.<br/><br/>As such, the Carrera T's homologated curb weight is 1470kg without fuel or driver; That's just 52kg heavier than the three-pedal 911 GT3, but just 10kg lighter than the comparable Carrera S.<br/><br/>The Carrera T's signature Agate Gray appears on most of the fascia trim; For an extra fee, you can add Slate Gray seat belts, seat details and carpet stitching. However, there is no dedicated short-throw gear lever here. The matte black touches, including 911 Carrera T-branded sill plates, are pleasantly understated, but there's little that feels truly different or special from other 911s.<br/><br/>The primary control layout and ergonomic implementation are mostly very good. A low, well-supported riding position has all the room even tall drivers will need. The steering column is set wide and the pedal placement is slightly offset on the inside of the wheel arch. _4-wheel-steering-440-miles-range-and-754-hp-new-chevrolet-silverado-ev-rst-first-edition-2024.webp "Chevrolet is preparing to launch the Silverado EV RST First Edition, and the company announced that pricing will start at $94,500.<br/><br/>The Chevrolet Silverado EV RST First Edition will be available towards the middle of the year with a base price of $94,500.<br/><br/>The truck will have a range of 440 miles and a 754-horsepower dual-motor all-wheel drive system.<br/><br/>Additional variants, including Trail Boss trim, will follow in the future.<br/><br/>When Chevrolet introduced the Silverado EV two years ago, the company said the RST First Edition would have a range of 400 miles (644 km) and cost $105,000. Surprisingly, that's no longer the case, as range has increased to 440 miles (708 km) while the price has dropped to $94,500 before the $1,995 destination charge.<br/><br/>The announcement comes as the bowtie brand prepares to launch its top-of-the-line hardware towards the middle of the year. When the truck arrives, it will be equipped with massive 24-inch wheels and a fixed glass roof.<br/><br/>However, the model is more notable for having an Avalanche-like Multi-Flex Midgate. Allows the 5′ 11″ bed to be expanded to hold 9′ long items. If that's not enough, you can fold the Multi-Flex Tailgate to carry items up to 10 ft 10 inches long.<br/><br/>Inside, you will encounter an 11-inch digital instrument panel and a 17-inch infotainment system. These are accompanied by a flat-bottom steering wheel, metallic accents and red trim.<br/><br/>Motivation is provided by a dual-motor all-wheel drive system that produces an estimated 754 hp (562 kW / 764 PS) and 785 lb-ft (1,063 Nm) of torque. Allows the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in less than 4.5 seconds when using Wide Open Watt mode.<br/><br/>When it's time to recharge, device owners will be grateful for the 350 kW DC fast charging capability, which can deliver nearly 100 miles (161 km) of range in as little as 10 minutes. Reservations will also be rewarded with a complimentary two-way GM Energy Powershift Level 2 Charger worth 19.2 kW.<br/><br/>Other highlights include the 4-wheel steering system, which impressed us when we tested it on the GMC Hummer EV Pickup. The model will also have air ride adaptive suspension as well as a towing capacity of up to 10,000 lbs (4,536 kg).<br/><br/>At the top of the driver assistance range is Super Cruise with trailer support. Automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning and lane departure warning are also included, along with lane keeping assist.
