Mito Yamamoto is a handsome man, so much so that women swarm the restaurant he works at daily. When the restaurant owner decides that he has had enough, he fires Mito, leaving him unemployed and with no place to call home. Soon after, Mito happens upon a cafe and receives a cut on the hand from broken glass. A strange man named Ruka Saotome takes Mito aside to presumably tend to the injury, but instead, he licks away Mito's blood, remarking that it tastes disgusting before asking Mito to leave. Later that night, Mito accidentally slips off the roof of a building and is caught by Ruka, who reveals himself to be a vampire. Ruka explains that a man's blood tastes disgusting, and the blood of someone unloved has an even worse flavor. _80-year-old-found-rare-d-day-paradummy-and-mistook-it-for-a-scarecrow.webp "An 80-year-old donated a rare original parachute dummy from D-Day to a museum - after mistaking it for a scarecrow.<br/><br/>Robert Bowley was clearing out his late brother's home when he came across the dummy.<br/><br/>His brother Michael Bowley had been fond of French collectors items and got it while on a trip to Normandy in the 1950s or 1960s.<br/><br/>Robert said he had initially mistaken it for a scarecrow before he passed it along to a museum.<br/><br/>That's when he discovered it was in fact a rare surviving D-Day artefact worth thousands.<br/><br/>The 'scarecrow' was one of several hundred from Operation Bodyguard, part of Operation Overlord, on June 6 1944.<br/><br/>Paradummies, made of hessian cloth, straw and sawdust, were dropped to create fake invasions by allied forces to divert enemy attention from the Normandy landing beaches.<br/><br/>Most of the dummies had a self-destroying mechanism to destroy the evidence - making this surviving dummy rare and valuable.<br/><br/>The paradummy is thought to be worth around £10,000 and one of less than 30 still in existence.<br/><br/>It is now on permanent display in the D-Day exhibition at House on the Hill Toy Museum.<br/><br/>Robert, a retired watchmaker and antique collector from Braintree, Essex, said: \")

_disabled-student-takes-first-steps-in-10-years-on-stage-at-her-graduation.webp "A chronically ill student took her first steps in 10 years - to accept her awards for excellence at graduation. <br/><br/>Melika Ghanaati, now 19, hasn't been able to walk unaided since 2013 due to four debilitating medical conditions. <br/><br/>She was born with a severe form of scoliosis - a curved spine - as well as congenital myopathy, a disorder which has caused weakness in her muscles. <br/><br/>Growing up, she either used a walker or a wheelchair - and has needed various surgeries to correct her curved spine. <br/><br/>But after a year of intensive physiotherapy, Melika was able to walk up to her teacher unaided and receive her high school diploma, as well as two awards for excellence. <br/><br/>Melika, who is now a student at York University, Canada, said: “This was such a special moment for me - my teachers and closest friends were worried about me, but I proved everyone wrong. <br/><br/>“I wanted to surprise everyone with the walk, but most importantly, I believed I owed it to myself.”<br/><br/>Melika was born with a number of conditions - including scoliosis, severe club feet, congenital myopathy and recurring kidney stones. <br/><br/>But her scoliosis and club feet were the biggest hurdles preventing her from being able to walk. <br/><br/>Up until the age of 13, Melika had a number of surgeries in an attempt to get the curve and club feet corrected. <br/><br/>She even briefly died in ICU after surgery at the age of 12. <br/><br/>She said: “Between the ages of 10 to 13 I had three spinal surgeries.<br/><br/>“I even had a code blue - I died for a few seconds. <br/><br/>“I lost a lot of blood flow and needed to have a blood transfusion.\")
