This rejection made the Security Council fail to recommend that the United Nations General Assembly hold a vote for all member states to allow Palestine to join as a full member. So what is the reason why the United States rejects Palestine's full membership in the United Nations?<br/><br/>United States Deputy Ambassador Robert Wood said the use of the veto power did not reflect rejection of a Palestinian state. However, the veto was given because he believed that recognition of a Palestinian state could only occur through direct negotiations between the two parties to the conflict, namely Palestine and Israel.<br/><br/>However, the United States expressed support for implementing a two-state solution that could result in a peace agreement.\")
