Hitch-Hike (Italian: Autostop rosso sangue, lit. 'Blood-red hitchhiking'), also known as Death Drive is an Italian crime film directed by Pasquale Festa Campanile. The film stars Franco Nero and Corinne Cléry as a couple in a troubled marriage, and David Hess as a fugitive who takes them hostage. The musical score was written by Ennio Morricone. The film is based on Peter Kane's novel The Violence and the Fury.<br/><br/>Plot<br/>Walter Mancini (Nero), an alcoholic reporter, and his wife Eve (Cléry) are on a road trip with a trailer heading back to Los Angeles. Along the way, they pick up a hitch-hiker (Hess) who introduces himself as Adam Konitz. Konitz soon turns out to be a sadistic escapee from an institution for the criminally insane, and he is running from the law after robbing two million dollars with his partners. It is marketed on the company’s website as a treatment for cold and flu symptoms.<br/><br/>A batch of the syrup contained ethylene glycol, which the ministry said was a toxic substance. The syrup was imported into Uzbekistan by Quramax Medical, the ministry said in its statement released Tuesday.<br/><br/>It also said the syrup was given to children at home without a doctor’s prescription, either by their parents or on the advice of pharmacists, with doses that exceeded the standard dose for children.<br/><br/>It was not immediately clear whether all or any of the children had consumed the suspect batch or had consumed more than the standard dose, or both.<br/><br/>Marion Biotech, Quramax Medical and India’s Health Ministry did not immediately respond to a Reuters request seeking comment.
