The Silver Bridge, which had been plagued by structural problems for years, collapsed during rush hour, killing 46 people. The Mothman, it was said, had been seen hovering over the bridge just before the disaster.<br/><br/>In the aftermath of the collapse, the Mothman legend took on a new dimension. Many believed that the creature had been a warning, a harbinger of the impending catastrophe.
