Base officials stated that the Fighting Falcon went down near White Sands National Park shortly before noon. The pilot, the sole occupant of the aircraft, was transported to a hospital for medical treatment via ambulance, confirmed base spokesperson Denise Ottaviano. An investigation into the crash's cause has been initiated by base officials. The F-16 was under the jurisdiction of the 49th Wing stationed at the base.
