_hsbc-confirms-its-bank-closure-for-tenby-during-the-middle-of-a-busy-summer.webp "A closure date for Tenby’s HSBC bank branch has been officially confirmed, and it’s not good news for the seaside town going into the summer.<br/>Back in November 2022 HSBC announced that the Tenby branch situated in Tudor Square would be closing. <br/>The Tenby closure was paused in April 2023 following recommendation of more cash deposit services to be made available to support the local community.<br/>“Following this an independent report recommended more cash deposit services were made available to support the local community,” said a spokesperson for HSBC this week.<br/>“We therefore paused our closure and kept the branch open whilst we worked closely with industry partners and the Financial Conduct Authority to launch an Enhanced Post Office which is now open. <br/>“I can now confirm our branch will close permanently on August 6, 2024.”<br/>“While more customers are choosing mobile, online and phone banking, I know others still value our face-to-face service, so you’ll find all our usual services at the Haverfordwest branch located at 41 High Street.<br/>The current opening times for Haverfordwest are: Monday to Friday - 09:30am to 3.30pm (closed on Saturday and Sundays).<br/>The Enhanced Post Office has a dedicated counter for banking services now open at Tenby Post Office located on South Parade (SA70 7DL) opposite the Five Arches.<br/>Services available include:<br/>• Cash withdrawals<br/>• Bill payments<br/>• Cash deposits<br/>• Cheque deposits<br/>• Check your balance<br/>• Currency exchange<br/>HSBC has promised that community ‘pop up events’ will also be arranged for Tenby.<br/>You’ll also find details by visiting: hsbc.co.uk/ways-to-bank/community-events.<br/>Back in January, local councillors and business owners welcomed plans for a new 24hr cash point for Tenby, following concerns that the seaside town could be left with just one ATM ahead of busy peak holiday periods.<br/>With more and more ATM’s disappearing throughout the town in recent years, and with the fewer ATM’s often running out of cash on busy weekends, concerns had been raised by businesses in Tenby that the re-supply doesn’t match the town’s peak visitor times, with some businesses requiring cash payments only.<br/>Lloyds TSB, Nat West and Santander have all departed Tenby in recent years, and with Barclays closing its branch over a year ago, meaning the loss of another cashpoint for the town, and now HSBC closing in Tudor Square too, it would leave the town with just one outside ATM located at Tesco Express.<br/>Tenby Town Council members therefore welcomed the proposed installation of an ATM to be installed in the shopfront central lobby at the Evans Seafront Pharmacy, situated at 6 High Street.")

_man-relearns-to-walk-after-three-week-coma-and-is-running-london-marathon.webp "A man who had to learn to walk again after being in a coma for three and a half weeks is training to run the London Marathon.<br/><br/>Connor Blundell, 25, was on a year abroad in Valencia, Spain, studying mechanical engineering.<br/><br/>Five weeks into his studies, Connor was out with friends when he fell four metres from a platform and landed onto his head.<br/><br/>Connor was unconscious and rushed to hospital where he spent three and a half weeks in a coma.<br/><br/>When Connor became conscious he was non-verbal and unable to walk and spent nine months in rehabilitation.<br/><br/>Connor was not able to leave Spain until May 2021 and continued his rehabilitation in the UK.<br/><br/>Less than four years on, Connor is walking and talking again and taking part in the London Marathon this weekend alongside his dad, Chris, 57.<br/><br/>Connor, an environmental consultant, from Sheffield, Yorkshire, said: \")

_motorway-kallar-kahar-salt-range-m-2.webp "The M-2 Motorway or the Lahore–Islamabad Motorway is a north–south motorway in Pakistan, connecting Rawalpindi/Islamabad to Lahore, and is the first motorway to have been built in South Asia. The M-2 is 375 km long and located entirely in Punjab. It continues on to eventually become the M-1 motorway, which terminates in Peshawar. The M-2 crosses the junction of M-4 (to Faisalabad) at Pindi Bhattian and M-3 (to Multan) at Dera Saithan Wala. The motorway is also a part of the Asian Highway AH1. The motorway was constructed during Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's rule and cost over Rs. 60 billion (equivalent to US$2.8 billion in 2023) and was opened in November 1997. One of the most expensive motorways in Asia, it also has one of the highest pillared-bridges in Asia at the Khewra Salt Range section.<br/><br/>There are ten service and rest areas on both sides of the motorway, with fueling, car wash, and car-repair facilities, and fast-food restaurants such as KFC, McDonald's, and Gloria Jean's Coffees, among others.<br/><br/>In 2016, the entire motorway was resurfaced—work that stretched over several months. New toll plazas were installed on every interchange. They are payable with a new M-tag system that was introduced in December 2021.<br/>The M-2 was conceived by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in his first term (1990–1993). The contract was awarded to Daewoo Group of South Korea on 30 December 1991 at a cost of Rs. 23,686 billion on a design-cum-construct basis. The original contract was for a four-lane facility.<br/><br/>Daewoo provided a loan of $379 million as supplier's credit, covering 40% of the construction cost. The loaned amount would eventually grow to $702 million. The other 60% of the cost would be paid by the government.<br/><br/>The motorway was inaugurated on November 26, 1997, during Sharif's second term.In late 2006, upgrades were made to the portion of the M-2 passing through the Salt Range due to increasing complaints of drivers. The upgrades included better marking of the road lines and increased size of road signs for easy visibility.In 2016, the M-2 motorway was resurfaced for a smooth and safer drive.")
