Two New Zealand rally drivers were killed on Sunday, 25 February 2024, during the Arcadia Road Rallysprint, opening round of 2024 New Zealand Northern Rallysprint Series held in Paparoa, Northland of New Zealand.<br/><br/>15-year-old Brooklyn Horan and his co-driver Tyson Jemmett, 35, raced in the Ford Fiesta Rally4 bearing the race number #17 which left the road and fell into a swollen river. Both racers died before emergency services arrived at the scene of the crash.<br/><br/>Following the fatal accident, the rally which was organized by the Hibiscus Coast Motorsport Club, was canceled. Both the deceased racers were well-respected and much-loved members of the sport.<br/>Despite his young age, Brooklyn Horan was a talented driver, already a star in rallying, off-road and circuit racing<br/><br/>An experienced rally competitor both as driver and co-driver, Tyson Zane Jemmett was the 2014 New Zealand Central Region Rally vice-champion. It happened on Saturday, 04 September 1999, Carey was riding a customised Norton RCW588, powered by a twin-rotor Wankel engine.<br/><br/>Tony Carey suffered severe head injuries in the accident and was transported to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, and in the following days local newspapers indicated he was listed in a critical condition. The Irishman remained in the intensive care unit until the following week, when life support machines were turned off, on Tuesday, 07 September 1999.<br/><br/>An accomplished rider, Tony Carey had raced on the European continent for a long time, when he established a base in Amsterdam, Netherlands.<br/><br/>Born in Bawnfume, Butlerstown, Co. Waterford, Tony Carey was said to be a Waterford, Ireland, resident. He was survived by a child daughter, Aoife, who had traveled with him to the race.<br/><br/>Reportedly, Carey's was the fourth death involving a motorcycle racer in 1999, in the Ireland's worst Summer of tragedy in racing memory. Donny Robinson was killed on 14 May, while practicing for the North West 200 at Coleraine; Philip Conroy died on 31 July at Saintfield and on 21 August Owen McNally lost his life during the Ulster Grand Prix at Dundrod.<br/><br/>R.I.P")

Sinton was transported to the Ulster Hospital in Belfast but the thirty-four-year-old rider was declared dead on arrival.<br/><br/>The meeting was abandoned after the accident.<br/><br/>Eddie Sinton started racing in 1989, he spent the early seasons riding a Yamaha TZ350 and a Honda CBR600; results began to come in 1993, when he was offered to ride the 600 Yamaha formerly owned by Leslie Caster.<br/><br/>With this machine Sinton obtained a string of top ten finishes, the most memorable being a fourth and fifth at Bishops court a sixth at the Temple and a fourth in the Newcomers race at the Manx Grand Prix.<br/><br/>In 1995 Sinton continued to achieve good results, he was a regular on the top five positions, but the season ended tragically with the death of his close friend Ian King at the Temple. An affected Eddie Sinton crashed in the last race of the season at the Sunflower, braking his pelvis. The shocking sequence of occurrences was enough to make him retire from competitions.<br/><br/>Sinton spent the following two years without racing, but in 1997 he decided to return with a new Honda 600 cm3. However the season was to be short-lived, as he crashed at Dundalk in June, breaking his collarbone.<br/><br/>The following year he was on his bike again to obtain in tewo years a remarkable sequence of good finishes which resulted in Eddie being offered a machine of the Moira Club for the 2000 season.<br/><br/>With a competitive bike Eddie obtained a third place at his home circuit of Tandragee and another third place at Skerries. Eddie Sinton went to the last race of the season at Carrowdore having almost secured the Moria bike for 2001, unfortunately he was killed during the competition.<br/><br/>R.I.P")
