Description:
In this video, we explore the common causes of nosebleeds in children, shedding light on why epistaxis occurs more frequently in younger individuals. From their delicate nasal anatomy to common behaviors like nose picking, we uncover the factors that contribute to this common childhood occurrence. Understanding these causes can help parents and caregivers better manage and prevent nosebleeds in children.

Here are some common causes:

Dry Air: Dry air, especially during winter months when indoor heating is used, can dry out the nasal passages, leading to irritation and bleeding.

Nose Picking: Children, especially younger ones, may pick their noses, leading to irritation and potential injury to the delicate blood vessels inside the nose.

Allergies: Allergies can cause inflammation and irritation in the nasal passages, making them more prone to bleeding.

Upper Respiratory Infections: Common colds and other respiratory infections can lead to increased nasal congestion and irritation, increasing the risk of nosebleeds.

Trauma: Accidental bumps to the nose, particularly during play or sports activities, can cause nosebleeds.

Foreign Objects: Sometimes, children may insert small objects into their noses, leading to irritation and bleeding.

Nasal Polyps: These are noncancerous growths in the lining of the nasal passages that can cause nosebleeds, although they are less common in children than in adults.

Blood Disorders: In rare cases, certain blood disorders or medications that affect blood clotting can lead to nosebleeds.

#BengalMonitor
#Reptiles
#WildlifeofPakistan
#AhmadNetix

Today we will talk about a lizard, the Bengal Monitor that is also called the Common Indian Monitor.
This monitor lizard distributed widely in the Indian Subcontinent, as well as parts of Southeast Asia and West Asia.
This large lizard is mainly a terrestrial animal.
Its length ranges from about 61 to 175 centimeters or 24 to 69 inches from the tip of the snout to the end of the tail.
Young monitors may be arboreal but adults mainly hunt on the ground, preying mainly on arthropods but also taking small terrestrial vertebrates, ground birds, eggs and fish.
The species is found in river valleys in eastern Iran, Afghanistan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Burma.
They are often found in agricultural areas.
Bengal monitors are solitary and found on the ground, although the young are often seen on trees.
Bengal monitors shelter in burrows they dig or crevices in rocks and buildings.
Bengal monitors are diurnal like other monitors, becoming active around 6 AM and bask in the morning sun.
During winter, they may take shelter and go through a period of reduced metabolic activity.
They are not territorial and may change their range seasonally in response to food availability.
They are usually shy and avoid humans.
They have keen eyesight and can detect human movement nearly 250 m away.
When caught, a few individuals may bite, but rarely do so.
Although they are found on agricultural land, but they prefer forests with large trees.
Captives have been known to live for nearly 22 years.
Predators of adults include pythons, mammalian predators and birds.
The main breeding season is June to September, but males begin to show combat behaviour by April.
Females dig a nest hole in level ground or a vertical bank and lay the eggs inside, filling it up and using their snouts to compact the soil.
They sometimes make use of a termite mound to nest.
A single clutch of about 20 eggs is laid.
The eggs hatch in 168 to nearly as long as 254 days.
About 40 to 80 % of the eggs may hatch.
They are capable of rapid movement on the ground.
Small individuals may climb trees to escape, but larger ones prefer to escape on the ground.
They sometimes stand on the hind legs to get a better view or when males fight other males.
They can also swim well and can stay submerged for at least 17 minutes.
They can use both trees and bushes for shelter.
Bengal monitors tend to remain active the whole day.
Large adults may ascend vertical tree trunks, where they sometimes stalk and capture roosting bats.
The species is a generalist and feeds on a varied diet of invertebrates and vertebrates.
Invertebrate prey mostly consists of beetles and their larvae also maggots, caterpillars, centipedes, scorpions, crabs, crayfish, snails, termites, ants, and earwigs.
Larger individuals in addition to invertebrates also eat a large amount of vertebrate prey, including toads and frogs and their eggs, fish, lizards, snakes, etc.

This video provides practical guidance for parents and caretakers on effectively managing loose motion (diarrhea) in children at home. From rehydration techniques to dietary recommendations and hygiene practices, learn how to ensure your child's comfort and speedy recovery during this common childhood ailment.

Here are some homecare tips:

Fluid Replacement: Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration. Oral rehydration solutions (ORS) are ideal for replacing lost electrolytes and fluids. You can buy ORS packets at pharmacies or prepare a homemade solution by mixing clean water, salt, and sugar.

Continue Breastfeeding or Formula Feeding: If your child is an infant, continue breastfeeding or formula feeding. Breast milk or formula provides essential nutrients and fluids necessary for recovery.

Avoid Certain Foods: Avoid giving your child dairy products, fatty foods, sugary foods, and caffeine as they can aggravate diarrhea. Stick to easily digestible foods like rice, bananas, applesauce, toast (BRAT diet), boiled potatoes, and plain crackers.

Probiotics: Probiotics, found in yogurt or available as supplements, can help restore the balance of healthy bacteria in the gut. Consult with your pediatrician before giving your child any supplements.

Maintain Hygiene: Ensure proper hygiene practices, including frequent handwashing with soap and water. This helps prevent the spread of infection.

Monitor Symptoms: Keep an eye on your child's symptoms. If diarrhea persists for more than a couple of days, if there's blood in the stool, or if your child shows signs of dehydration such as dry mouth, decreased urine output, or excessive fussiness, contact your pediatrician.

Rest: Encourage your child to rest as much as possible to help their body recover.

Comfort Measures: Use diaper rash creams or ointments to soothe any irritation caused by frequent bowel movements.

Seek Medical Attention: If your child is very young, has a weakened immune system, or if you're unsure about their condition, consult a healthcare professional promptly.

Join us as we explore the causes of red-colored urine in children in this informative video. From common culprits like urinary tract infections and kidney stones to less serious factors like dietary influences, we uncover the various reasons behind this concerning symptom. Learn when to seek medical attention and how to ensure your child's health and well-being.

Common Causes of Red Urine in Children:
Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): UTIs are one of the most frequent causes of hematuria in children. When bacteria enter the urinary tract, it can lead to inflammation and irritation, resulting in blood in the urine.

Trauma or Injury: Children are often active and may experience injuries during play or sports. Blows to the abdomen or lower back can cause blood to appear in the urine.

Kidney Stones: Though less common in children than in adults, kidney stones can still occur. When these small, hard deposits form in the kidneys or urinary tract, they can cause bleeding, leading to red-colored urine.

Inherited Disorders: Certain genetic conditions, such as sickle cell disease or Alport syndrome, can affect the kidneys and lead to hematuria.

Glomerulonephritis: This is a condition characterized by inflammation of the glomeruli, the tiny blood vessels in the kidneys. When these vessels become inflamed, they may leak blood into the urine.

Exercise-Induced Hematuria: Strenuous physical activity, particularly activities like long-distance running, can sometimes cause blood to appear in the urine temporarily. This is usually harmless and resolves on its own.

Medications: Certain medications, such as antibiotics or anticoagulants, can cause urinary bleeding as a side effect.
