Description: The Syrian crisis has brought about a unique situation for the Kurds in Western Kurdistan (Syria) by giving them the opportunity to enjoy certain national rights that were hitherto denied by the regime. This documentary follows several groups of people as they function in this semi-independent status-quo where many women have taken prominent roles in organising life. A teacher has to teach in a makeshift school, and a music group prepares to perform at the Newroz celebration.nDirector: David Mes
