There’s a community in southwestern Trinidad that’s hoping to offer something fun, outdoorsy and family-oriented to the country.<br/><br/>It’s not a new concept, in fact, it's very similar to what we have at the Caroni Bird Sanctuary.<br/><br/>But, one hour further south, the people of Woodland tell our reporter Cindy Raghubar-Teekersingh that while a tour down this end of the island also includes close-up views of the National Bird, the Scarlet Ibis, there’s much more to see and do.

It has been under the care of the city of Puerto Princesa since 1992, was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999 and chosen as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in 2012. The City Tourism Department also offers tourists a paddle boat adventure to the mangrove forest and bird-watching. Moises Cruz of The Manila Times tries to eat the tamilok, a wood worm mollusk that lives in the mangrove or 'bakawan' along Palawan's coast. The tamilok, which is found on rotting wood or huge tree trunks, is also known as a 'ship worm.'
