February 2013nShort nn#Takeastand is a response to the degrading advertisement by Karl Lagerfeld for Coco Mademoiselle staring Keira Knightley. Lagerfeld’s film is centered on the topic of Knightley’s erotic seduction of a fashion photographer to James Brown’s It’s A Man’s World. My hope was to offer an alternative to his objectifying film by having the female model decide to no longer see her body as an object, but as a means to make a difference in the world.
