A couple were stunned to find a secret 200-year-old well underneath their hallway when they began renovating their cottage.<br/><br/>Victoria Ellington, 36, and her husband Andrew, 40, were amazed when they discovered the 27ft hole by the front door.<br/><br/>Once explored, they found that the well, which is thought to be centuries-old, still contained crystal-clear water.<br/><br/>The couple, from Redcar, North Yorks., couldn’t bear to cover up the feature so they decided to find a way to incorporate it into building.<br/><br/>After months of hard work, Victoria and Andrew managed to install a pump to create their very own wishing well, covered by protective glass.<br/><br/>The couple now rent the beach-front property, called Bute Cottage, to holidaymakers who can enjoy the quirky water feature.<br/><br/>Mum-of-two Victoria said: “We bought the cottage during the 2020 Covid lockdown and Andrew, who is a builder, started renovating it.<br/><br/>“We were planning to add an extension and build a family home but the foundations started slipping and we knew something was up.<br/><br/>“One day Andrew found this deep hole and realised it was quite a deep well right on top of the property by the front door.<br/><br/>“He was digging at the foundations and all the soil was falling into this hole. <br/><br/>“He just sent me a photo and said: 'Oh my god, have you seen this?'<br/><br/>“We knew then that we couldn’t build an extension so Andrew just decided to make it part of the building and we could rent the cottage out.”<br/><br/>Instead of paving over the well the couple covered it with a glass walkway and lined the walls of the shaft with lights.<br/><br/>Victoria, mum to Oscar five, and Henry, nine, said: “Our sons were excited about having a wishing well so we thought we should make that a reality.<br/><br/>\

_nearly-half-of-uk-pets-have-their-own-room-to-relax-in.webp "Nearly half of the UK’s pets now have their own dedicated room where they can relax in peace and store their belongings, research has revealed.<br/><br/>A poll, of 2,000 cat and dog owners, found 48 per cent have a reserved room for their pets or a space in the garden. <br/><br/>Just over half (55 per cent) want them to have their own 'chill out' area, while 34 per cent want to ensure maximum comfort. <br/><br/>And 30 per cent want all their possessions kept in one place.<br/><br/>But for 18 per cent, its sole purpose is so their stuff doesn’t take up space in the rest of the home. <br/><br/>It also emerged 46 per cent of pet owners have designed their home around their pet, although 21 per cent admitted they are unlikely to buy items to appease their furry friend that don’t match their interior style. <br/><br/>The study was commissioned by Homesense - part of the TK Maxx family - which has partnered with Kelly Brook, to launch a pet and interiors content series ‘Barkitectural Digest’. <br/><br/>In the style of a high-end home interior magazine, Kelly and her beloved pup, Teddy, grace the pages in a luxury home decked out with more affordable homeware and pet products to spread inspiration for other pet owners. <br/><br/>Kelly Brook said: “I adore Teddy. He’s family and a big part of my life he is, so it’s no surprise that there are elements in my home designed around him. <br/><br/>“It turns out I’m not the only one, and I am thrilled to help inspire others to design their perfect home and pet haven.” <br/><br/>The study also found of those who have designed their home around their pet, top changes included moving delicate things higher up (29 per cent), adding a cat flap (21 per cent) and installing a garden fence (20 per cent).<br/><br/>Others have replaced carpets with hard floors (16 per cent) or bought scratch proof furniture (11 per cent), while nine per cent have even chosen dark furnishings to disguise pet hair. <br/><br/>Nearly one in five (17 per cent) have installed baby gates to stop wandering cats and dogs and 19 per cent have covered up pet inflicted damage with blankets. <br/><br/>However, 38 per cent don’t believe there is enough inspiration available to help stylishly decorate their home with their pet in mind. <br/><br/>And 75 per cent struggle to find pet products that are good quality and reasonably priced. <br/><br/>The research, carried out via OnePoll, found owning an animal has been more expensive than expected for 41 per cent, with insurance and food among the costs that surprised them most. <br/><br/>While 15 per cent claim they spend more on their cat or dog than they do on their children, holidays and their car, with the average owner spending £708 on their furry friend a year. <br/><br/>As a result, 59 per cent have had to compromise on pet products due to their cost - especially on food, toys and beds. <br/><br/>A Homesense spokesperson added: “We’re a nation of animal lovers, and we believe you should never have to compromise when it comes to your pets.\")

Chris Roark, from California, has transformed a 1958 Chevrolet Impala after his previous show-winning car, called The Perfect Score, was destroyed in a crash. Chris told R.Rides: “The Perfect Score was a three time Lowrider Magazine show winner and, on our third title coming home, we were cut off and we got swiped over onto the embankment. The trailer came loose from our toe rig and the car was totalled. That loss, it was very, very tough.” After the accident the other members of the Traditional car club encouraged Chris to create another car in honour of The Perfect Score. From there, The Final Score was born. The impressive lowrider was customised in every way possible with Chris estimating there is close to 600 custom machine parts in the car. This included the door handles, which were shaped for pop doors. The interior was made with full leather ostrich skin, with custom logos engraved on the seats. And everything matches, with the whole engine was engraved to match the outer pinstripe paint. Even the motor was customised, a LS1 that came out of a mid-80s Corvette. Chris told R.Rides: “When I look at the Final Score, I see engineering, craftsmanship and detail.” Despite the success of the original lowrider, Chris’s fans weren’t immediately approving of his new build. Chris explained: “A lot of people didn't take to it when it first came out. They were like, ‘What is this?, this doesn't look good, what are the colours that are mixing?’ “But a couple years went by and now you start to see a lot of people starting to entertain all these different colours.” The lowrider has built up a legion of fans, but will Chris continue building these cars? He said: “It’s tough as you get older, you slow down. I have my son and my nephew that are young guns and they've been keeping the fire under me to keep me going.” Chris’s son, Chris Jr is now leading the next generation of car customizers. Chris Jr told us: “My favourite part of the low rider is when you could get in it and drive, put the top down, just have fun. And they're different, they're unique, not everyone likes low riders, but everyone has their own different tastes. I just like to be behind the wheel and feel the creation of building something that’s unique like this.”")
