By shifting the Pokemon formula to focus on enhanced open-world exploration, and the quest to catch 'em all, Pokemon Legends: Arceus has truly revolutionized the series for a more modern audience. But that's not to say that it's perfect, as there are a couple of elements that hold this experimental Pokemon game back from being the very best the series has ever been. What it is able to accomplish is impressive, particularly for a 25-year-old series that's always been a little rigid with its formula.<br/><br/>Release date: January 28, 2022<br/>Platform: Nintendo Switch<br/>Developer: Game Freak<br/>Publisher: Nintendo<br/><br/>Game Freak has cleverly accomplished this long-overdue evolution by essentially starting from scratch, teleporting us back to a point in time long before anything we've seen in the series to date. You're exploring the Hisui region, an early version of Sinnoh where there's just one major settlement. That's Jubilife Village, which acts as the central hub from which you'll head out on expeditions to explore the land, help the residents, and discover new Pokemon. It works well as a base of operations, and as a space that will gently grow and change over time with shops and other facilities. It's also filled with people who are desperate to share in your adventure and learn more about the Pokemon roaming the wilds of Hisui around them.<br/><br/>You are tasked with completing the locale's first Pokedex as part of the Galaxy Team's Survey Corp, which essentially boils down to three different formats â discovering a Pokemon, catching a Pokemon, and completing a Pokemon's Pokedex entry by completing research tasks to move up the knowledge ranks until you max out at 10. This can be accomplished by observing a Pokemon using a certain move, catching or defeating a specific number, or allowing it to evolve. I'm admittedly disappointed to find there aren't more Pokemon Snap-inspired observational research tasks, where watching a Pokemon's behavior becomes as important as catching or battling it, as the tasks you're given in Pokemon Legends: Arceus can feel a little repetitive â particularly if you truly want to complete your 'dex.")

_work-underway-to-save-tenby-39s-historic-golf-course-from-further-erosion.webp "Work to save Tenby Golf Clubâs course from further erosion is underway, although some have labelled the plans as a âscarâ on the seaside townâs South Beach.<br/>Known as the âbirthplace of Welsh Golfâ Tenbyâs links golf course established in 1888, has over many years, and even more so in recent times, suffered from the ongoing effects of coastal erosion and storm damage at points along its interface with South Beach.<br/>Despite the erection of some âsoft defencesâ at the foot of the dunes, the actions of âmother natureâ has now impacted the course to such an extent that parts of adjacent holes are being lost to the erosion.<br/>Two years ago, the Golf Club submitted plans to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority with proposals to construct a âcoastal defence projectâ to protect the course situated alongside from further erosion.<br/>The application proposed the erection of a âtemporary coastal defence systemâ incorporating gabion baskets and âmattressesâ made of steel frames and filled with stone, to be set out in front and laid on top of the existing dune system for an approximate length of 200 metres, to protect the dunes and golf course adjacent to them from storm damage and erosion, for a period of up to 10 years.<br/>The plans were submitted by STRI (acting as the Clubâs agent) who are specialists in sports and golf course development, construction, and reconstruction.<br/>Work has finally got underway this month, towards the Penally end of the beach and dunes, however one resident of the village which the golf course encompasses, has been left less than impressed at the early stages of the plans progressing.<br/>âThis is the current works being carried out by the Tenby Golf Club members for the sum of ÂŖ120,000, but in my humble opinion it's a scar on a precious Tenby/Penally visitor asset,â said Penally villager Dave Laming.<br/>Members of Tenby Civic Society also expressed several concerns at the time the application was approved by PCNPA as to the impact on the character of the beach and the locality.<br/>âThe South Beach is still a natural beach backed by dunes, but the proposal will make it look more like a man made environment,â said Harry Gardiner from the Civic Society.<br/>âOver the years, damaged by the sea, the caissons would be very unattractive - would they be removed then?â he added.<br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>")
