Description: The first scene depicts filmmaker Melinda Hess going back to her grandparent’s apartment building in Washington Heights for the first time in over 30 years. This building is where the 38 letters from her father, Sanford Hess were sent in 1946. All letters were addressed to 709 W 176th St, NY- at the time, the German Jewish neighborhood of New York.
