Description: Dr. Kenan Arnautovic describes his patient series who underwent a microsurgical decompression technique for Chiari I malformation. Patients in this series had what Dr. Arnautovic describes as “simple” Chiari 1, meaning the cerebellar tonsils were at 5mm or more below the foramen magnum, and a majority also had syringomyelia, neurologic symptoms and headache.
