Description: The National Bird of Prey centre in Helmsley have welcomed a pair of Andean condors. they arrived from South Lakes Safari Zoo to join their breeding program.
This South American species is part of the New World vulture family and, with a wingspan of a whopping 10-12ft, is one of the largest flying birds on the planet. Currently, they are classed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List, meaning they are at increased risk of extinction without conservation efforts.
They've only been at the centre for a few days but have settled in remarkably well and are already showing promising signs of courtship.
