It’s understood that the purpose of the flight was to spread the ashes of someone else who had recently died. The passenger was 39-year-old Kate Callingham. She's been described by friends and family as a beloved partner, mother, daughter and friend, and a keen leader in the arts. The country fire authority says it appears the glider ran short of the runway and crashed.
