They come up to my wife.<br/><br/>âThey said âhow can you be with him? Heâs so short.'<br/><br/>âPeople stare at us â it happens a lot.<br/><br/>âTrolls say I look like her handbag or Iâm her son. They are trying to be funny.â<br/><br/>Cassandra, who works in customer care, said: âItâs a little odd that people look at height difference and think we donât deserve to be in a relationship.<br/><br/>âItâs not the norm â society thinks 6ft men need to be with shorter men.<br/><br/>âYou love who you love.â<br/><br/>Casandra had embraced her height by the time she met Westin on Tinder in 2017 â and even wore five inch heels on their first date.<br/><br/>She said: âI grew up taller than everybody. I was the odd ball out.<br/><br/>âI accepted in my 20s that I couldnât change.<br/><br/>âNow Iâm mostly in heels.â<br/><br/>Westin had never had any issues with his height or dating girls taller than him.<br/><br/>He said: âMy height is what it is. I canât stretch myself.<br/><br/>âI always carried myself in a confident way.<br/><br/>âWhen I met my wife I said âyouâre tall and there is nothing you can do about it. And Iâm small and there is nothing I can do about itâ.<br/><br/>âWe never cared about it.<br/><br/>âItâs a blessing. If something is up on a shelf and I canât get it. Guess who Iâm calling? My wife.â<br/><br/>Despite their confidence, the couple did have to adjust to the constant stares and comments.<br/><br/>Cassandra said: âI remember the very first time someone said something.<br/><br/>âThese two or three older men were looking at us.<br/><br/>âThey said âsheâs really tall, heâs really short â I canât believe itâ.â<br/><br/>Westin says he also gets comments asking if he has 'short man syndrome'.<br/><br/>He said: âSomeone said 'I hope he doesnât have a temper'.<br/><br/>âShort men get a bad rep and they think I have short man syndrome.<br/><br/>âPeople could be missing out on a life partner because of all these preconceived notions.<br/><br/>âItâs silly stuff like women canât be with a man shorter than her. They want someone to look up to and protect them.<br/><br/>âIâm a boxer â I can protect my wife.<br/><br/>âIt doesnât have anything to do with my height.â<br/><br/>Cassandra added: âThere are tall women married to short men.<br/><br/>âItâs not like OMG I just found a rare coin.â<br/><br/>Westin said: âLove is love no matter what.â")
