The Tympanum Press is a small owner-operated press located in downtown South Bend, Indiana. Specializing in the centuries-old craft of hand-set letterpress printing, we print small jobs ranging from broadsides of poetry to coasters and napkins. In the letterpress process individual pieces of lead type are pressed into the paper carrying the ink below its surface. The incomparable result is a three-dimensional play between paper, ink and impression.
