Description: Scientists at Berkeley Lab and UC Berkeley have created the first ultrathin 2D magnet that is just one-atom thin and operates at room temperature. The record-breaking 2D magnet could lead to new applications in computing and electronics, such as spintronics, a new technology that uses the orientation of an electron’s spin rather than its charge to encode data, and new tools for the study of quantum physics.nnRead more: https://newscenter.lbl.gov/2021/07/20/worlds-thinnest-magnet/nnResearch T
