A computed tomography (CT) scan was performed on several die-cast samples. The CT scan dataset provided a three-dimensional (3D) scan of the part, which allowed for virtual cross-sectioning of the areas of interest on different planes.It also allowed us to determine if porosity, which is inherent to the die casting process, was responsible for the defects found in the copper plating layer.
